PRESS STATEMENT: 2011 YEAR GROUP OF
DIPLOMA TEACHERS (REGULAR) IN THE
NORTHERN REGION EXPRESSES DISPLEASURE IN DELAY OF UPGRADING PROCESS.
We, 2011 year group of Diploma Teachers in
the Northern region, by this statement express
our utmost displeasure about the way and
manner in which our upgrading process is
(mechanization) is being loosely handled.
It is not an unknown fact that teacher-trainees
go through a lot hassle and tussle during
training, pertaining course content, fee-
payment and whole lot of peculiar nitty-gritty.
It is therefore an expectation that one will
reap the fruits of your labour after
completion. If the result after completion is
fruitless, one can imagine the frustrations that
Having received our appointment letters in
September, 2011 and after working for about
fourteen (14) to fifteen (15) months with
active commitment and dedication, it will be
baffling to note that we are still not upgraded
onto the right scale.
We however wish to state categorically that
this statement (Press release) is devoid of
political inclination and should not be
misconstrued as such.
We therefore want the appropriate authorities
to come out and explain to us why our salaries
are not paid. An ultimatum of one week is the
maximum period we are giving, with effect
from this day, the 5th of November, 2012 for
a response; failure for which we shall embark
on a peaceful demonstration and subsequently
a strike action.
We also are calling on other
affected teachers in the remaining regions to
join hands in liberating the 2011 year group of
teachers from this misery.
We therefore implore on the government to
come to our aid at this difficult times, by
facilitating the payment of our arrears and
placement onto the appropriated salary scale,
as soon as possible. We also congratulate the
affected teachers for their patience and
humbly appeal to them to exercise restraints
until our ultimatum expires before we take
the next line of action.
